Project Engineer - Mechanical

MATANA Buildings is a construction and contracting company delivering warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings in Saudi Arabia. Our team brings long site experience, and we are growing our project teams.

You will

• Lead the execution of the mechanical works (HVAC, plumbing and drainage, fire-fighting) on building projects from mobilisation to final handover.
• Review mechanical design, shop and coordination drawings, and resolve clashes with the structural, architectural and electrical works.
• Coordinate the mechanical and electrical works, so that the MEP installation is planned, installed, tested and handed over as one package.
• Review material submittals, technical data and samples before procurement.
• Supervise HVAC installations: ductwork, piping, equipment, insulation and controls.
• Supervise plumbing and drainage: water supply, tanks and pumps, sanitary drainage and storm water.
• Supervise fire-fighting systems: sprinklers, hose reels, fire pumps and risers.
• Prepare method statements and work plans for the mechanical works.
• Manage mechanical subcontractors, evaluate their performance, and hold them to the specifications and the programme.
• Inspect installed works against the approved drawings, the specifications and the Saudi Building Code.
• Witness and record mechanical tests: pressure tests, flushing, balancing and commissioning.
• Deal with the client, the consultant, subcontractors, suppliers and civil defence: progress meetings, submittals, RFIs, inspections and approvals.
• Keep site records and daily reports, and prepare progress reports covering progress, issues and proposed solutions.
• Lead site engineers, foremen and crews; give briefings and toolbox talks.
• Apply the site HSE requirements: work at height, lifting, hot work, heat stress and environmental controls.
• Hand over the mechanical systems with test records, O&M manuals and as-built drawings.

You bring

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering and SCE accreditation (Associate Engineer grade or above).
• PMP certification.
• 5+ years executing the mechanical works of building projects.
• Strong reading of mechanical design, shop and coordination drawings; AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting systems, and of the Saudi Building Code.
• Mechanical testing and commissioning procedures.
• MS Project or Primavera P6 at working level.
• Supervising crews and managing MEP subcontractors.
• Good HSE knowledge: site safety rules, risk assessments, permits to work, hot work and work at height.
• Good English and at least basic Arabic.
• Saudi, or non-Saudi with a transferable Iqama.

• PMI-RMP certification.
• HSE certificates (OSHA, NEBOSH or equivalent).
