Project Engineer - Civil & Architectural

MATANA Buildings is a construction and contracting company delivering warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings in Saudi Arabia. Our team brings long site experience, and we are growing our project teams.

You will

• Lead the engineering and site execution of building projects (warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings) from mobilisation to final handover.
• Review structural, architectural and shop drawings and confirm they meet the project requirements before work starts.
• Supervise earthworks, foundations, formwork, reinforcement, concrete, and steel structures and pre-engineered buildings.
• Supervise the finishing works: masonry, insulation and waterproofing, plaster, flooring, facades, and internal and external finishes.
• Supervise cladding and roofing, external works, underground utilities and drainage.
• Prepare method statements and work plans, and check temporary works before use.
• Control setting out with the surveyors, and check levels and dimensions.
• Manage subcontractors, evaluate their performance, and hold them to the specifications and the programme.
• Inspect executed works against the approved drawings, the specifications and the Saudi Building Code.
• Prepare and review quantity take-offs and interim payment applications, for the client and for subcontractors, and check their accuracy.
• Deal with the client, the consultant, subcontractors, suppliers and the authorities: progress meetings, submittals, RFIs, approvals and correspondence.
• Keep site records and daily reports, and prepare progress reports covering progress, issues and proposed solutions.
• Lead site engineers, foremen and crews; give briefings and toolbox talks.
• Apply the site HSE requirements: work at height, excavations, heat stress and environmental controls.
• Lead testing, snagging and the handover inspections of the civil and architectural works.

You bring

• BSc in Civil Engineering and SCE accreditation (Associate Engineer grade or above).
• PMP certification.
• 5+ years executing building projects, covering both structural and finishing works.
• Strong reading of structural, architectural and shop drawings; AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of the Saudi Building Code and of concrete, steel structure and finishing methods.
• Quantity take-offs and payment applications.
• MS Project or Primavera P6 at working level.
• Supervising crews and managing subcontractors.
• Good HSE knowledge: site safety rules, risk assessments, permits to work, work at height and heat stress.
• Good English and at least basic Arabic.
• Saudi, or non-Saudi with a transferable Iqama.

An advantage

• PMI-RMP certification.
• HSE certificates (OSHA, NEBOSH or equivalent).
