MEP Senior Project Engineer

MATANA Buildings is a construction and contracting company delivering warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings in Saudi Arabia. Our team brings long site experience, and we are growing our project teams.

You will

• Lead the execution of the MEP works (HVAC, plumbing and drainage, fire-fighting, fire alarm, power, lighting and ELV) from mobilisation to final handover.
• Review MEP design, shop and coordination drawings, and resolve clashes with the structural and architectural works.
• Review material submittals, technical data and samples before procurement.
• Prepare and review the MEP programme, and track actual progress against the plan.
• Manage MEP subcontractors, evaluate their performance, and hold them to the specifications and the programme.
• Inspect and approve installed works, and witness tests (pressure, insulation resistance, continuity and the like).
• Prepare and review MEP quantities, interim payment applications and variations.
• Track material consumption, control cost and cut waste.
• Deal with the client, the consultant, subcontractors, suppliers and the authorities (Civil Defense, SEC, NWC and the municipality) for approvals, inspections and utility connections.
• Lead testing and commissioning, and the authority inspections before occupancy.
• Coordinate sleeves, openings and embedded items with the civil team before concrete and finishes.
• Apply QA/QC procedures and the site HSE requirements, including permits and safe energisation.
• Prepare periodic progress reports covering progress, issues and proposed solutions.
• Close snags, and lead the initial and final handover of the MEP systems.
• Prepare the handover file: as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test certificates and warranties.
• Lead the MEP site team and subcontractors to deliver within time, cost and quality.

You bring

• BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and SCE accreditation (Associate Engineer grade or above).
• Able to lead both the mechanical and the electrical works, whichever the degree.
• PMP certification.
• 8+ years of MEP site execution on building projects, covering both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire-protection parts), NFPA and Civil Defense requirements.
• Strong reading of MEP and coordination drawings; AutoCAD and Revit.
• Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Testing and commissioning, and authority approvals in KSA.
• MEP quantities and payment applications.
• Good HSE knowledge: site safety rules, risk assessments, permits to work and safe energisation.
• Managing subcontractors and following several projects or work areas at once.
• A record of delivering projects on programme and on budget.
• Strong leadership, reporting and communication skills.
• Full-time presence on site.
• Good English and at least basic Arabic.
• Saudi, or non-Saudi with a transferable Iqama.
