Civil Senior Project Engineer

MATANA Buildings is a construction and contracting company delivering warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings in Saudi Arabia. Our team brings long site experience, and we are growing our project teams.

You will

• Lead the engineering and site execution of building projects (warehouses, industrial buildings, strip malls and residential buildings) from mobilisation to final handover.
• Follow every stage of execution, from the structural works through the finishing works to handover.
• Review structural, architectural and shop drawings and confirm they meet the project requirements before work starts.
• Supervise excavation, foundations, footings, columns, slabs and the concrete and steel structures.
• Supervise the finishing works: masonry, insulation and waterproofing, plaster, flooring, facades, and internal and external finishes.
• Prepare and review the project programme, and track actual progress against the plan.
• Manage subcontractors, evaluate their performance, and hold them to the specifications and the programme.
• Inspect and approve executed works against the approved drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and review quantity take-offs and interim payment applications, for the client and for subcontractors, and check their accuracy.
• Track material and resource consumption, control cost and cut waste.
• Coordinate the civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical works so they fit together without clashes.
• Review shop drawings and as-built drawings.
• Apply QA/QC procedures (inspection requests, material approvals, NCR close-out) and the site HSE requirements.
• Deal with the client, the consultant, subcontractors, suppliers and the authorities: progress meetings, submittals, RFIs, approvals and correspondence.
• Prepare periodic progress reports covering progress, issues and proposed solutions.
• Follow technical comments, rectify defects and make sure corrective works are completed.
• Lead the initial and final handover inspections and make the building ready to hand over.
• Lead site teams and subcontractors to deliver within the agreed time, cost and quality.
• Provide engineering solutions to site problems and improve how the site runs.

You bring

• BSc in Civil Engineering and SCE accreditation (Associate Engineer grade or above).
• PMP certification.
• 8+ years executing building projects, including both structural and finishing works.
• Proven experience on multi-storey buildings, warehouses or industrial buildings, from foundations to handover.
• Experience with a contractor or developer delivering building projects.
• Strong reading of structural, architectural and shop drawings; AutoCAD.
• Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Quantity take-offs, payment applications and engineering reports.
• Good knowledge of the Saudi Building Code and municipal requirements.
• QA/QC, technical inspection and handover procedures, including closing quality comments before handover.
• Good HSE knowledge: site safety rules, risk assessments and permits to work.
• Managing subcontractors and following several projects or work areas at once.
• A record of delivering projects on programme and on budget.
• Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Clear reporting and communication with all parties.
• Full-time presence on site.
• Good English and at least basic Arabic.
• Saudi, or non-Saudi with a transferable Iqama.
